Frequently Asked Questions

1. When did you decide that you wanted to be a writer?

When I was a young child I wrote stories, songs, and poems, and throughout the years I've continued to write. I've always known I loved to write, but only recently have I decided to write seriously and get published.

Getting a laptop computer made it easier, and that's when I began to write with publication in mind, and also when I finished, edited, and let someone read my first book.

I was also thrilled to discover eBooks and ePublishers, which opened up a whole new world in submission options! I've submitted to Ellora's Cave, Samhain Publishing, Red Rose Publishing, Phaze, and have an entry in the Brava contest. I'm still waiting to hear whether or not my submissions are going to be picked up by the publishers. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and continuing to write as I wait. Of course!

2. What is/are the genre(s) in which you write?

I write paranormal, fantasy, romance, and erotic romance. At this moment I am concentrating on an Urban Fantasy entitled Legend of Spiritgrove. You can read the blurb on my books page. I'm having a great time writing it, and have plans to make it into a series.

3. Do you write everyday?

Barring any special circumstances, yes, I write everyday. On those days I just can't write, I try to take notes or write to my blogs, or work on my website.

4. Do you plot out your books?

Not really, but sometimes I wish I did! I think it would make things a whole lot easier! But that's just not the way I write. I get an idea in my head, and I sit down and start writing. If I get stuck, I just break out some paper and pencils and work my way through it. So far, it's working for me.

5. What are your hobbies?

Reading, watching movies, surfing the net, playing video games, making ATCs, blogging, writing songs and singing. Not necessarily in that order ;)

6. What advice would you give aspiring writers?

Write. Just write. Each time you write you gain experience and you will improve with each story. Also read everything in sight, and above all, never give up. Believe in yourself and don't let anyone tell you that you can't. Join an online writing group such as Romance Divas, and take advantage of workshops and the advice that published writers give. My slogan, Feel the Fantasy, was born in the Romance Divas forum.

7. How much time do you devote to promoting?

A lot! I do social networking sites and blogs, and I get to know the readers out there that I think might enjoy my books, and I spend a lot of time at VistaPrint.com and Cafepress.com. I am already dreaming up contests I can hold. I know you can't neglect promo and am always looking for new ways to promote my name and my books.

8. What are you writing now?

Well, I am concentrating right now on my Urban Fantasy, Legend of Spiritgrove, but I also have a few more manuscripts that I have started and before I decided to concentrate on Legend I was giving them equal time. I'll pick them back up once Legend is finished. One is another Urban Fantasy, one is an Erotic Fantasy, and one is a Contemporary Romance. I haven't written a contemp before, so it'll be interesting to see how that turns out.

9. What do you like most about being a writer?

I'd have to say being able to create worlds in which I can just lose myself; lives that I can live and adventures I can take part in. I love creating characters, they start to become real! I also love waking up each morning being excited about where the story might take me today.

10. What's your least favorite part?

Probably the fact that there is just never enough time. Sometimes I just hate the fact that I have to sleep!:) Also, I really do not like writing the synopsis.

11. What do you like to read?

I'll pretty much read anything, but I really like to read Fantasy, thrillers, paranormal, suspense, some romance.

12. Who are some of your favorite authors?

Stephen King, Laurell K. Hamilton, Kim Harrison, Tess Gerritson, Vicki Petterson, Robert McCammon, John Sandford. And I love the Harry Potter books:)

13. What motivates and inspires you to write?

You know, I don't need much motivation to write; I love doing it and I'll often hold it back as a 'treat' to get other, less fun things done, like housework, haha. What inspires me; good books, the thought of how lucky I am to be able to write, someone telling me they enjoy my books, listening to music.

14. Do you have any writing 'rituals'?

Well, I like to make sure things are taken care of, the house is clean, everything is clear for me to sit down with a clear conscience and devote hours to writing. Otherwise, I can't totally relax. Other than that, not really.
